Divorce can be an emotionally draining and debilitating process. You have to come to the realization that the person who you thought you would grow old with, is not the right one and you are forced to go looking for love once again.
While plenty of people lay low after a divorce, this mom of three decided to take a different approach and threw herself the greatest divorce party we’ve ever seen. With the help of her amazing friends, she proved that there is still a lot of love in her life.
36-year-old Nicole Nieser was married for 13-years before receiving a fateful letter in the mail which stipulated that her divorce would be finalized on December 16. Immediately, Nieser knew that she did not want to spend the day alone, wallowing in her sadness, so began coming up with ways to keep busy.
She said “I did a little of ‘pinteresting’ and ‘Googling’ and I said ‘I should have a divorce party, my friend just said ‘You know what, I am going to take care of it, just be home at 6:30.'”
When the day arrived, Nicole’s friends did not disappoint and she recalled “They all had bags and boxes of wedding dresses, I dug mine out of the basement and we all got dressed up. It was a blast.” The friends sat around, drank champagne and reminisced on past relationships and their children.
Nicole added that they “kept it really positive, drank some wine, ate some food.” As for the wedding dress, dress code, she said that the gowns “were on most of the time, everybody was really digging that.”
When reflecting on what her friends had done for her, Nieser admitted that their support and love got her through the whole situation, explaining “Even though I am okay with being divorced, it just lifted me up and reminded me that I am loved and that I have lots of great people in my life.”
As for the fate of her wedding dress, Nicole placed it back in storage at the end of the party, explaining “You never know when someone else is going have a divorce party!”
