Wedding Flower Trends

Flowers are crucial in the overall decor and aesthetic of any wedding. They add vibrant colors, textures, and personality to the venue while also influencing the bride’s look through the bouquet. With a widely available variety of types, sizes, shapes, and colors, choosing the right wedding flowers can be overwhelming. To help you navigate through the options, we’ve listed a few of the most popular wedding flowers of 2023 and how to incorporate them into memorable floral arrangements for your special day.

Hydrangeas are highly sought-after for their captivating blend of boldness and delicacy. Their clustered blooms, composed of small petals, create a striking visual effect. Available in an array of colors, including white, pink, blue, and purple, hydrangeas offer versatility in floral arrangements. These flowers excel in large installations, such as ceremony arches, and can also be utilized in stunning single-flower centerpieces with their substantial size.

Peonies are highly sought-after for springtime weddings due to their unique and textured petals. These flowers come in various colors and petal structures, making them versatile for different floral arrangements. Their large size allows for impactful displays, even when using a single stem in a bud vase. These show-stopping blooms are popular for making statement pieces, creating installations, and filling larger outdoor spaces.

Lilies are elegant and timeless flowers known for their stunning large petals. Available in a variety of colors like white, orange, red, yellow, pink, and purple, they are perfect for summer weddings, adding a romantic touch to outdoor floral displays. Lilies can be showcased individually as a single-stem bouquet or combined with greenery in a small posy arrangement. They also work well alongside other flowers in larger bridal bouquets.

A classic choice for everything related to love, roses can never go out of fashion in a wedding ceremony. Exuding romance and coming in a wide range of colors, roses are perfect for every wedding style. These flowers are great for all arrangements, from bridal bouquets to large-scale installations. While the classic roses are adaptable to different climates, garden roses are more versatile with soft romantic petals and easily pliable stems.

Sunflowers, with their vibrant yellow color and charming drooping petals, are a beloved choice for weddings. They bring a bold burst of color and texture to any setting. Whether incorporated into centerpieces alongside smaller flowers, showcased as single stems, or used as edible decorations on cakes, these flowers are truly versatile. Particularly ideal for summer to early fall weddings, sunflowers offer a cheerful and radiant touch to any celebration.

Bridal Gown On-The-Go! Bride Hand-Knits Her Wedding Dress on NYC Subway

When it comes to tailor-made bridal looks, there are few brave-heart brides, who can take the concept up a notch. Esther Andrews is one of them, who has taken the matter literally into her own hands. Designer and TikTok star Andrews has hand-knitted her own wedding dress from scratch. The video of her nine-month journey has now acquired over 430,000 views.

The Viral Video

The video shows Andrews knitting her wedding dress while traveling on the NYC Subway. Through the nine months period, she regularly sewed the dress together, measured ruffles, and decorated the gown with little embroidered tomatoes. Andrews was nervous at the time of the test run while putting all the separate pieces together. But the result went brilliantly. According to her TikTok video, she added the knitted tomatoes then and finally finished the dress just a day before the wedding.

The Dreamy Dress

The finished dress complements Andrews’s fun-loving personality. According to her, the inspiration for both bride and groom outfits was ‘space pirate meets tomato patch’. Her handmade out-worldly bridal gown has a deep V neckline, with flouncy ruffles on each side. Creating a vintage-inspired lace effect, the gown flows into multiple tiers and layers. The sleeves are tapered in beginning, before expanding mid-way into a wide bell shape. The mid-length sleeves also have ruffles at the end. Irregularly placed little hand-knit tomatoes finally complete the whimsical effect.

The Final Look

Andrews revealed her final wedding look in another TikTok video. Black hand-beaded ‘starry sky’ tights and ivory printed strappy heels complemented her ethereal look perfectly. Matching with her inspiration idea, the grooms-wear resembled an astronaut outfit. Decorative patches and badges added a dash of fun. According to Andrews, she designed and created her groom’s attire too.

With all this on-hand expertise and her prior professional experience in NYC, Andrews has practically hand-made her way into the bridal fashion industry. Back in her hometown Indiana, her eponymous label ‘Esther Andrews Bridal’ is now creating sustainable knitwear collections for exceptional brides.
