Valentine’s Day has come and gone but, if a big relationship milestone wasn’t reached, there’s always next year. Of course, getting married or engaged on any day is wonderful, but Valentine’s Day is the day of love, so it makes sense that some people feel that it’s perfect timing for these life events. If you’re still undecided about whether you’d like to get engaged or married on this day next year, check out how these celebs handled Valentine’s Day proposals and weddings!
Proposals
Orlando Bloom proposed to Katy Perry in 2019 and they’ve been together ever since. The two ate at an Italian restaurant, took a helicopter ride, and then landed on the roof of their engagement party. Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2022. Owens proposed at a gazebo in Houston, Texas, and the pair got married in April. Vince Vaughn had a very strategic reason for proposing to Kyla Weber on Valentine’s Day, back in 2009. He explained, “Valentine’s Day rolled around, and I figured this is not a ship to be missed because I will not forget this date, so Valentine’s Day was the day that I asked her.” Christina Aguilera and Matthew Rutler got engaged while on vacation in 2014. However, they may need to get engaged again at this point, as they’re still not married yet. Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford also got engaged while on vacation. That was in 2009, and they got married in June 2010.
Weddings
Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault got married on Valentine’s Day, in 2009. They had a simple courthouse ceremony in Paris but then had a larger wedding two months later in Venice, Italy. Brittany Furlan and Tommy Lee got both engaged and married on Valentine’s Day. The proposal took place in 2018, and they had their wedding exactly one year later.
Sophie Hunter and Benedict Cumberbatch got married in 2015 in a small village on the Isle of Wight in England. Celebrities such as Tom Hiddleston, Keira Knightley, and Andrew Scott were there to celebrate the couple. Liberty Ross and Jimmy Iovine got married on Valentine’s Day in 2016. The duo invited fellow celebrities, such as Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Gwen Stefani, and Paul McCartney. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett performed. All guests were asked to wear red in honor of the holiday.
