20+ Times Kate Middleton Dressed Like Princess Diana

Princess Diana and Kate’s Matching Styles

Choosing what to wear isn’t always easy when the world is watching. Princesses Kate and Diana have each earned a lot of attention while they serve and served their royal roles.

Those with an eye for fashion might have noticed that Kate takes a lot of cues from her famous mother-in-law’s iconic style.

Breaking Up the Monochrome

If you go back to 2001, you’ll be in the early days of Kate and William meeting one another. This put Kate in the public eye rather quickly.

One of the earlier photographs she met the cameras in was a red skirt suit in 2001 broken up by a black belt.

While not in the royal family yet, the one-day-Duchess-then-Princess’ outfit reminded some of the orange skirt suit Princess Diana wore in 1995 while stopping in Liverpool.

Ready for the Slopes

When you’re hitting the slopes to ski for a while, you’ll want to make sure you dress warmly! For Princesses Diana and Kate, it was a chance to show their style too.

Once again opting for bold colors, Diana grabbed this red coat in February 1986 while she was visiting Switzerland.

Kate would make the same trip in March 2005, even taking some time to hit the slopes in a nearly identical outfit.

Gold and Cream

Princess Diana first stepped out in this tan ensemble back in 1981. At the time, the Princess was on her first official visit to Wales.

In 2006, Kate attended the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles and Harry Lopes. Kate donned a cream and gold coat.

Aside from the similar color palette, both women opted for the sticking hats and fascinators.

Red and Black

Red and black are a classic choice to go together. That’s something that Kate and Diana have both shown over the years with their wardrobes.

Diana wore the original look in these pictures for Christmas in Sandringham in 1993.

Kate donned the look when she attended the Sovereign’s Parade in Berkshire at the Royal Military Academy.

While she opted for a lower neckline and a hat without netting, it’s hard not to see the callback to Princess Diana.
