Hilary Duff recently married Matt Koma, her longtime boyfriend, in a small and intimate backyard wedding in Los Angeles, CA. The bride wore a custom Jenny Packham draped gown, which had that modern and chic element that you would expect from Hilary. The modern and chic look was a theme in her look, all the way to her hairstyle, which was in a sleek bob that had a wet and wavy look to it. It was topped with a small and dainty crystal and pearl-lined headband.

Professionally Styling Hilary Duff for Her Wedding
Duff had decided to capture the final dress-fitting moments in a behind-the-scenes video shot by Vogue before the ceremony. The dress was really clean, structured, with no frills, as she explains in the video. As for her hair, it was styled by Nikki Lee, a longtime stylist and founder of Nine Zero One Salon. Nikki Lee styled Duff’s hair in a clean hairstyle, which was tailored to the length of her gown since it had a high neck. A tad bit of glamour was added with the pearl-and-crystal-lined hair accessory.
Hilary Duff wanted to have her hair out of her face, back behind her ears, and with a little bit of wave to it. She didn’t want anything too curly or too straight. Lee ended up giving Duff a haircut on the big day so that the length of her hair would fall right above her backless gown.

The Unexpected Product That Was Used
Nikki Lee ended up posting a recap of the bridal glam she did for Hilary on her Instagram. There, she mentioned that she used baby oil gel to style Duff’s hair and ensure that it was slicked back with no frizzies. This is one of the most affordable beauty hacks that you can do, especially for a wedding, considering the baby oil gel can be purchased at most drug stores for around $3.
35 Sketchy Kardashian Business Ventures
The Kardashian Kard
Perhaps the most famous sketchy Kardashian business venture is the Kardashian Kard. The pre-paid Mastercard was marketed in 2010 but immediately faced heavy criticism and negative press. The three elder Kardashian siblings – Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé – advertised the Kardashian Kard. In fact, their faces were on the card itself. The celeb-endorsed Mastercard drew criticism for its extremely high fees. Worse still, the product was targeting a young audience. The sketchy Kardashian Kard was taken off the market after just one month.

Kardashian Glow
Back when the elder Kardashian sisters were happy to slap their name on anything, they came out with their own brand of fake tanning lotion. The product was called Kardashian Glow, and came in some extremely gaudy mid-noughties bottles. The tanning lotion was advertised by Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé, and came in bright neon bottles. The packaging included animal print, jewel tones and glitter. If you want to sample some Kardashian Glow, you can pick up some vintage bottles on eBay.

DASH
One year before the first season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the Kardashians opened their first DASH boutique in Calabasas. In fact, initially, the siblings wanted to do the show so they could bring attention to their boutique stores. You can see DASH in plenty of early-season episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and eventually, the boutique had locations all over the US. However, the Kardashian brand eclipsed the boutiques, and they closed in 2018.

Kris’s Casino Store
At the beginning of the Kardashian climb to the top, Kris Jenner said yes to everything. Of course, this included a branded Kardashian casino store. The store, called Kardashian Khaos, opened in the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2011. Kardashian Khaos was described as a celebrity lifestyle boutique, and featured Kardashian-Jenner appearances, and meet-and-greets with Kardashian family members. Kris stopped by on her book tour in 2012. Eventually, the Kardashian Khaos store closed its doors in 2014.

Poosh
After the Kardashian-Jenner’s individual apps closed down in 2019, eldest sibling Kourtney launched her own lifestyle website, Poosh. Named after her daughter Penelope, the site is the Kardashian version of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop. And it’s just as bad as it sounds. The Kardashian-Jenner family have accused Kourtney of being ‘the least interesting to look at’, and the laziest. The star pushed back with healthy lifestyle brand Poosh, saying that being healthy is ‘sexy and cool’. Unsurprisingly, the site itself is pretty dull.

Kylie’s Walnut Face Scrub
The youngest Kardashian-Jenner sibling is selling a new product each week, or at least that’s what it feels like. In 2019, the beauty entrepreneur expanded her makeup empire and launched her skincare range, Kylie Skin. The skincare line includes a face-wash with finely ground walnut powder in its ingredients list. Before it was even released, skincare Twitter erupted. You see, walnuts destroy the skin barrier and cause micro-tears on the skin. Despite this, the product is still for sale today.

The Kardashian Kollection
The Kardashian siblings have released plenty of clothing collections over the years, including the Kardashian Kollection which sold exclusively at Sears. The collection was supposed to be an affordable way of dressing like the celeb sisters, but the pieces were cheaply produced and ugly. The Kardashian Kollection lasted for four years before it was pulled in 2015. The items could often be found on sale racks for heavy discounts due to the Kollection’s lack of popularity. Good riddance!

Rob’s Arthur George Socks
Sometimes we forget about the only Kardashian man, and the same goes for Rob Kardashian’s underperforming sock line. Made exclusively for Neiman Marcus, the socks are a whopping $30 a pair. That’s $30 for a pair of socks with ‘baby daddy’ or ‘I love you’ written on the bottom. Sales of Arthur George were lukewarm – no surprises there! A Neiman Marcus rep even revealed that the store had to ship boxes of leftover stock to other locations because of their poor sales.

Kim’s LuMee Smartphone Case
We all know that the Kardashians love a selfie, and Kim is truly a pioneer. Listen, the woman even has her own selfie book. Well, back in 2013, Kim’s company faced a $100 million patent infringement lawsuit for her LuMee phone case. The phone-case has front-facing LED lights, and clips onto your smartphone for an A-List worthy selfie. Unfortunately for Kim, an inventor called Hooshmand Harooni claims that he first patented an illuminated smartphone case and that LuMee swiped his design.

Smooch
So most people know about DASH, but did you know about Smooch? Well, even though they had no kids way back in 2003, the Kardashians did own a high-end baby clothing boutique called Smooch. Smooch opened at around the same time as DASH and sold baby goods to the wealthy residents of Calabasas. In early seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, you can see Kris and Kourtney working in the store. Weirdly, Smooch closed when first grandchild Mason was a baby.

Kim’s Tria Hair Removal
Kim Kardashian was once the spokesperson for the Tria Hair Removal device, which she said she used on her entire body. Kim promised customers that they would never need to use shaving cream or razors again. Unfortunately, Tria themselves say that their hair removal device is not safe for use on the face, ears, neck or head. They also stress that it should be used alongside shaving. Tria’s competitor Radiancy ended up suing Kim for her false claims about Tria.

The Kardashian Sisters’ QuickTrim
A particularly sketchy Kardashian business venture is their endorsement of weight-loss product QuickTrim. Kim, Kourtney and Khloé hawked this dieting product in ads and interviews, claiming that it would help with weight-loss and curb cravings. The sisters even made a public appearance at CVS to promote the product. The FDA looked into the product and concluded that the main ingredients were caffeine and laxatives. In 2012 there was a class action lawsuit against the sisters for making ‘unsubstantiated, false and misleading claims.’

Kendall and Kylie’s Vintage T-Shirt Line
The Kardashians didn’t stop embarking on terrible business ventures when they hit the big time. In fact, Kendall and Kylie offended and upset lots of people in 2017 with their line of so-called vintage t-shirts. The t-shirts featured iconic artists and bands, including Notorious B.I.G, The Doors, and Tupac. As well as images of famous artists, the t-shirts had a ‘KK’ logo or a picture of Kendal and Kylie. Selling for $125 each, the t-shirts caused uproar and instant criticism from the artist’s families.

Kylie’s Makeup Brushes
Kylie Jenner became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire thanks to her beauty empire Kylie Cosmetics. In 2017, fans were thrilled when the youngest Kardashian-Jenner announced the launch of a set of makeup brushes. Fans were not so thrilled to learn that the sixteen-piece set cost a whopping $360. The mega-rich Ms Jenner seemed to forget that nearly $400 dollars are out of most people’s budget for a handful of brushes. The star responded to criticism by pointing to the product’s high quality.

Kim’s Music Career
Hilariously, back in 2012, Kim Kardashian tried to branch out and release a pop single. Anyone that’s kept up with the Kardashians knows that Kim isn’t the best singer or dancer, but that didn’t stop her from releasing a Paris Hilton-esque single. With help from producer and rapper The Dream, the reality TV star released “Jam (Turn it Up)” in 2012. Kim refers to the single as one of her biggest regrets. She donated all the proceeds to a charity organization.

Kris’s Talk Show
At some point in 2013, someone thought it would be a good idea to give Kardashian momager Kris Jenner a talk show. The daytime talk show had a six-week summer run, but was ultimately canceled by Fox. The talk show was given the chop because of Kris Jenner’s hosting skills, or lack thereof. Fox senior VP Frank Cicha said that Jenner was unengaging and uninteresting on camera. The executive suggested that Jenner was hired because of her famous family name.

Kendall’s Pepsi Ad
Kendall Jenner has seen her fair share of scandals, but the Pepsi uproar is undoubtedly the biggest of them all. Seriously, what was Kris Jenner thinking when she agreed to this campaign? In the infamous ad, Kendall is shown leaving a modeling gig to join a protest. The model takes off a wig and hands a Pepsi to a police officer. As a result, protesters and police come together in harmony. The ad faced huge backlash because of its references to the Black Lives Matter movement and was pulled.

Khloe’s Good American Line
Khloé’s Good American denim line has been relatively successful in terms of Kardashian business ventures. However, it does have a sketchy past. In 2017, fashion designer Destiny Bleu accused the brand of ripping off her designs. Initially, third Kardashian sister Khloé denied the allegations, calling them ‘flagrantly false and defamatory’. Khloé denied that she or her designers had seen or been influenced by Bleu’s work. However, email evidence emerged showing Kardashian’s assistant ordering items from Bleu in 2016.

Khloe’s Unbreakable Perfume
Khloé Kardashian has faced an endless string of relationship dramas, so honestly, this business venture just seems really tragic now. Back when Khloé was married to professional basketball player Lamar Odom, the couple released a unisex perfume called Unbreakable Bond. The perfume also came in an Unbreakable Love scent, and the bottle featured pictures of the loved-up celeb couple. Sadly their marriage was not unbreakable, as Khloé and Lamar officially separated in 2016, following Odom’s infidelity and struggles with addiction.

The Kardashian-Jenner Apps
The Kardashian Jenners come up with all sorts of new business ventures each year, and a lot of them include technology. Back in 2015, each sibling (except Rob of course) released their own individual app featuring behind-the-scenes content, and more. Unfortunately, users had to pay a monthly subscription for the apps, and the content wasn’t that great. After all, these women live their lives on social media and reality TV – why would we need to pay to see even more of them?

Kimono
Recently, the Kardashian-Jenners have been making less sketchy business decisions. However, even Kim’s mega-successful shapewear line Skims started off with a pretty terrible idea. Kim told the New York Times that her brand, then named Kimono, was a nod to the beauty and detail of the Japanese garment. Despite this, the celebrity faced immediate backlash over the name of her company. An episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians shows Kim facing accusations of cultural appropriation and racism.

Kendall’s Pro-Activ Ad
Another ill-fated and sketchy Kendall and Kris business venture is the model’s endorsement of Pro-Activ. Both Jenners built up the collaboration between Kendall and the skincare company online before the official announcement. Kris even said on Instagram that Kendall would be sharing her ‘most raw story’. Fans were furious to find out the super-rich model was advertising the acne product. Many didn’t believe Kendall actually used Pro-Activ, and some even dug up her dermatologist online to prove that she pays for fancy skin procedures.

Kim’s Hype Energy Drinks
Bizarrely, Kim Kardashian has been promoting Hype Energy Drinks for years overseas. It doesn’t seem like the health-conscious star would be a fan of energy drinks, but in 2015 Kim helped to launch the drinks brand in the US market. In a 2015 advert for the brand, Kim is shown turning into various female icons after drinking Hype. First, she becomes Audrey Hepburn, then Marie Antoinette, and finally, an older version of her own sister Kylie Jenner. Weird.

Kim’s Sketchers Shape-Ups
Another well-known sketchy Kardashian business venture is Kim and Kris’s endorsement of Sketchers Shape-Ups. Now we know that Kim K is famous because of her big behind, but we also know that she didn’t get it from wearing Sketchers Shape-Ups. At the time, Kim claimed that the shoes would help with weight loss and strengthening. As a brand spokesperson, she implied that they’d help get a Kardashian butt. Ultimately, the Federal Trade Commission made Sketchers USA pay back $40 million worth of refunds.

Kylie and Kendall’s Novel
This Kardashian Jenner business venture is terrible but also plain weird. Sure, it’s fairly common for celebs to hire ghost-writers and release books vaguely based on their lives. It’s a way to share their lifestyle with fans and to extend their brand. But Kendall and Kylie didn’t do that, instead, they released a sci-fi novel. The book, called Rebels: City of Indra was a dystopian novel with flying machines and mutations. The book was followed by a sequel in 2016.

Kris’s Arousal Oils
Kris Jenner is usually behind the scenes pulling strings for her famous daughters, but she also steps in front of the camera occasionally to endorse a product of her own. In 2012, this was Zestra, an essential arousal oil product. Yes, you read that correctly. Kris Jenner featured in the commercial for Zestra, and even compared the product to the male equivalent. She said: “I think men have had something to help them in the bedroom for years, and now it’s our turn.”

Kim Kardashian Hollywood
Another technological business venture, Kim Kardashian surprised the public in 2014 when she released her own video game. The game, Kim Kardashian Hollywood, allows players to dress up and make publicity and relationship decisions. The goal? To get on the A-List of course! Kim Kardashian Hollywood was actually super successful, but it did receive some backlash from parents. The phone game includes in-app purchases, so many parents felt that their kids were at risk of spending money, or becoming addicted.

Kim and ShoeDazzle
Maybe you’ve heard of subscription shoe service ShoeDazzle, but did you know it was founded by none other than Kim Kardashian West? The accessories service charged a monthly rate and offered a curated selection of items that it sends to customers. Initially, customers paid $39.99 for a monthly pair of shoes, but the company ended up scrapping its subscription fee. After all, who can keep stuffing a new pair of shoes into their closet every month?

California Community Church
This sketchy Kardashian business venture might surprise you, but Kris Jenner (and Pastor Brad Johnson) actually founded a church in 2012. Yes, despite their love of butt selfies, the Kardashian-Jenners are a church-going family. California Community Church was previously called Life Change Church before it changed hands to Kris and Pastor Brad. Members of the congregation pay $1000 per month to attend the place of worship, making some question whether it’s actually there for tax purposes. Seems sketchy!

Kris’s Cookbook
These days, momager extraordinaire Kris Jenner has a team of private chefs making her food for her. But did you know that the busy celebrity manager likes to cook and entertain? Well, if you want to dig into some Kardashian family favorites, then you can check out Jenner’s 2014 cookbook. We’re not sure who exactly would want to whip up a batch of Robert Kardashian’s Cream of Wheat, but thanks to this book, it’s there if you want to.

Kimoji
Kim Kardashian is famous for her butt, but she’s also famous for her ugly crying face. That’s right, Kim has an ugly face when she cries, and somehow she manages to make money from that. Released in 2015, Kimojis are emojis by Kim Kardashian. If you’re chatting with your friends and want to include an emoji of Kim taking a selfie of her own butt, then Kimoji has you covered. This is a pretty terrible business venture morally speaking, but somehow people love them!

K-Dash QVC Clothing Line
It’s shocking enough that the Kardashians made a clothing collection for Sears, but would you believe that they also hawked merchandise on QVC? Well, in 2010, Kim, Kourtney and Khloé appeared on the shopping channel and modeled Kardashian style items. The budget-friendly range promised a celebrity look but with cheaper price tags. Unsurprisingly, the clothing was cheaply made and covered in tacky animal print and bling. Seriously, nobody wants to buy Kardashian clothes directly from their television.

Kris’s Girl Group
Kris Jenner has tried her hand at many things, but back in 2008, she decided to manage a girl band. The group was called BG5 and featured on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In the episode, Kris suggests that Rob tries his hand at managing the band. Spoiler alert – Rob is not a good manager. BG5 ended up releasing a single and Kris Jenner toured with them in Europe and the US. However, the group disbanded after releasing their second single.

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney’s Novel
Back in the early days of their fame, the elder three Kardashian sisters decided to release a book. Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé are listed as authors for the novel, but it’s safe to say that they didn’t write a single word. The book was released in 2011 and features three characters called Kamille, Kassidy, and Kyle. The sisters said their book was fiction, but that it also gave insider access to their real lives. Unsurprisingly, the book was met with a lukewarm reception.

Kim’s Midori
Despite her party girl origins, Kim Kardashian doesn’t actually drink. Asides from a few shots in Vegas on her birthday, the reality star doesn’t touch the stuff. Between 2011 and 2013, Kim K was the face of the bright green melon flavored liqueur. Kim was often spotted wearing melon green during this time, and appeared in a number of Midori commercials. In one commercial, she joins a bartender to make a Midori Sour.
