Wedding of the Day: Wedding Planner Marries at Home

Wedding of the Day: Wedding Planner Marries at Home

It’s always exciting when you get to see a wedding planner on the married side of the big day, a.k.a., being the one to walk down the aisle! That was the case with Alicia Fritz, a proprietor of A Day in May Events. The couple tied the knot on June 22, 2019, in front of their 96 beloved guests at their Michigan home.

The Theme

Alicia says she wanted the wedding to reflect the couple’s love story, her affinity for Dutch paintings, and their mutual adoration for the area. Ultimately, the theme was bold and colorful, earthly, romantic, and traditional – exactly what the wedding planner had in mind. Guests had plenty of casual fun, games, and cocktails.

From a Wedding Planner to a Bride

Since they love entertaining people, Alicia really wanted to make the guests feel at home and happy to be there. They even handed out caps and maps of the local areas so guests could use their time there and explore the trails and breathtaking Michigan landscape.

The Reception

The reception was a combination of dark and moody features set in a black tent decorated with colorful florals with upbeat music in the background and many cocktails. Unlike this setting, the welcome party was way more casual and all about family games and dressing up the kids.

All Hail the Classics

Both Alicia and Matt decided to go classic with their look for the Big Day. He wore a custom-tailored Tom Ford suit, and she glowed in a Jane Hill V-shaped neckline dress. As for the guests, according to her, the dress code was “garden formal,” so everyone was feeling comfy in their clothes (and shoes). Alicia’s entrance song was “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor, performed by the couple’s close friend and musician, Bob Mervak.
