The Big Wedding of Married at First Sight’s Cameron and Jules

Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant

Michael Brunelli and Martha Kalifatidis aside, there was one true success story during Married at First Sight Australia season six. No, it’s not about Mick Gould and his flip-flops. It’s about Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant. The couple, matched during the experiment, was a strong pair from the very beginning. They have gone on to welcome a son together, Oliver, as well as get married again.

Jules made no secret of her desire for a second wedding during the show. Cameron got down on one knee and popped the big question as part of their final commitment ceremony. The couple went on to tie the knot back in December 2019. The ceremony was shared on Instagram. While Melissa Lucarelli was eventually un-invited to the wedding, the photos from the event revealed that Heidi Latcham was there on the special day. Take a look at their beautiful second wedding photos in this article.

An Instagram Post Revealing More Great News

In May 2020, Jules celebrated their six-month anniversary with an Instagram post sharing more wedding photos. She wrote “six months + one day in of marriage, five months pregnant, two months isolation (we are back in the experiment), one year and eight months since I first married you. Full speed ahead for a wonderful life together! Thank you for giving me my Carrie Bradshaw wish, my love. ‘I’m looking for love, real love, ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t live without each other love.’ I choose you every day x.”

Sharing a sweet video of the end of her pregnancy, Jules said that she would do it a thousand times again for Oliver, as their little boy has arrived. She also shares that their baby is healthy, beautiful, and her heart is full. The young married couple is getting to know their little man who has the world ahead of him.

It seems like the Married at First Sight experiment worked on these two love birds.

Layer Cake – Sienna Miller & Jude Law

Jude Law and Sienna Miller may have looked like the perfect couple on the outside, but in reality, their relationship was plagued with dissonance. Law’s affair with their nanny in 2005 ended their engagement, but that’s not where the trouble began. There have been strong rumors that Miller was cheating on her fiancé Jude Law with co-star Daniel Craig during the filming of Layer Cake, a year before Law’s affair was revealed.

Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll – Marilyn Manson & Dita Von Teese

Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll was filmed and then abandoned, but it became popular for other reasons. The film is said to be widely responsible for the separation of singer Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese. The horror movie was directed by Manson, and during its production, he became involved with one of his actresses – Evan Rachel Wood. Von Teese filed for divorce from the eccentric Manson in 2006, and the couple went their separate ways.

Star Wars – Harrison Ford & Mary Marquardt

Star Wars changed the course of movie history forever, but it changed the lives of the cast as well. In her memoir, The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher confirms a brief three-month-long affair with co-star Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars. At that time, Ford was married to Mary Marquardt and was a father of two. Ford and Marquardt divorced in 1979, and the affair is said to have played a part in their separation.

You, Me, and Dupree – Kate Hudson & Chris Robinson

When the Oscar-nominated actress Kate Hudson met Owen Wilson on the set of You, Me, and Dupree, she was still married to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson. The film was released in July 2006. A month later, Hudson and Robinson separated, and she and Wilson confirmed to be dating not long after. Whilst there isn’t any clear proof and Hudson denies it, there’s been speculation that there had been an overlap between her relationships.

Stromboli – Ingrid Bergman & Petter Lindstrom

Before the filming of Stromboli began, Ingrid Bergman had been married to the Swedish surgeon Petter Lindstrom for more than 13 years. During the filming of the movie she became involved in a scandalous affair with the director Roberto Rossellini – one of her many affairs during the marriage. For Lindstrom, Rossellini was the last straw. Ingrid gave birth to a boy not long after the film was released. A week later, the couple got divorced, and Bergman went on to marry Rossellini, which also ended in divorce.

Honey Boy – Shia LaBeouf & Mia Goth

Charismatic and beautiful pop star FKA Twigs featured in Shia LaBeouf’s Honey Boy, a film based on his own life, as Shy Girl, a love interest of the protagonist. But she soon became a real-life love of LaBeouf, so much so that he ended his two-year long marriage with actress Mia Goth, whom he married in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator. LaBeouf and Twigs were together for nine months, after which they decided to put their relationship “on hold” due to hectic work schedules.

Snow White and the Huntsman – Rupert Sanders & Liberty Ross

Once the talk of the town, it’s common knowledge that the relationship of Twilight stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson ended due to the filming of Snow White and the Huntsman. But the marriage it broke off was that of director Rupert Sanders. Stewart’s fling with Sanders not only ruined her own relationship with Pattinson but also ended up costing Sanders his marriage with Liberty Ross. The couple eventually broke up in 2013, when Stewart began dating visual effects producer Alicia Cargile.

Gigli – Jennifer Lopez & Cris Judd

If there’s one thing that came out of Gigli, a movie with a rating of 2.5 on IMDB, it was probably Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship. The two developed a romance on the set of Gigli, which resulted in J Lo leaving her second husband Cris Judd for Affleck. A surprising pair – with Affleck’s laidback lifestyle clashing with Lopez’s glamorous one – their relationship didn’t last very long. Affleck and Lopez went on to become engaged, but called off the wedding in 2003 and split soon after.

House of Wax – Chad Michael Murray & Sophia Bush

Nick Carter dropped a bomb in the world of Hollywood in 2006 when he claimed that his then-girlfriend Paris Hilton was fooling around with Chad Michael Murray during the making of House of Wax. Murray was married to Sophia Bush at that time, which added even more fire to the scandal. After just five months of marriage, Murray and Bush split up, mostly due to the claims of infidelity.

Dream House – Daniel Craig & Satsuki Mitchell

The 2011 thriller film Dream House was responsible for the destruction of two relationships. During its filming, actress Rachel Weisz, who was with Darren Aronofsky at that time, fell for co-star Daniel Craig. Craig, in turn, was engaged to Satsuki Mitchell at that time. Though neither party states Dream House as the reason their relationship ended, it doesn’t take much to add two and two together. The couple went public shortly after filming ended and got married seven months later.

Stage Beauty – Billy Crudup & Mary-Louise Parker

This one is plain heartbreaking. Billy Crudup abruptly left his seven-month pregnant girlfriend, Mary-Louise Parker, to be with Claire Danes, whom he met on the set of Stage Beauty. Parker was shattered – yet she still named her son William, after his father. Years later, Parker addresses the issue in detail in her memoir Dear Mr. You, where she talks of her devastating heartbreak and explains she felt the whole ordeal was unfair to her.

Mind over Murder – Tori Spelling & Charlie Shahnaian, Dean McDermott & Mary Jo Eustace

The 2005 Lifetime TV movie, Mind over Murder, is responsible for the splitting up of two marriages. Co-actors Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling began a romantic affair on the set of Mind over Murder on the very first day. At that time, Spelling was married to Charlie Shahnaian, and McDermott to actress Mary Jo Eustace, with whom he had a kid. Eventually, both of them broke off their marriages and married each other in 2006.

Pushing Tin – Billy Bob Thornton & Laura Dern

Nothing seems to affect Angelina Jolie’s love life more than movies. During the filming of Pushing Tin, Jolie was working with Billy Bob Thornton, who was engaged to Laura Dern at the time. After meeting the brunette bombshell, Billy Bob ghosted Laura and ended up marrying Angelina without even telling her. Laura would later compare it with “a sudden death”. Thornton and Jolie’s relationship took a turn for the weird – with them publicly trading underwear and wearing vials of each other’s blood. So, Laura Dern probably avoided a massive red flag, if you ask us!

The Getaway – Ali McGraw & Robert Evans

American actress Ali McGraw married producer Robert Evans in 1969, and divorced him in 1972. The divorce is attributed to her public affair with co-actor Steve McQueen on the set of The Getaway. Ali went on to marry McQueen in 1973. Despite their initial chemistry, Ali did not find happiness in her marriage with Steve McQueen either. Ali would later recall that she was always afraid that McQueen would eventually leave her. They were together for five years before their separation in 1978.

Northern Lights – Eddie Cibrian & Brandi Glanville, LeAnn Rimes & Dean Sheremet

Another movie that fuelled two divorces, Northern Lights was produced by Lifetime as well. At the beginning of filming, Eddie Cibrian was married to Brandi Glanville, and LeAnn Rimes to Dean Sheremet. Rimes and Cibrian’s affair on set led to their divorces, which neither Glanville nor Sheremet was happy about. Cibrian and Rimes tied the knot together in 2011. They have been together ever since and currently, Rimes is a stepmother to Cibrian’s two sons with Glanville, Mason and Jake.

Titanic – James Cameron & Linda Hamilton

Titanic tells the epic story of two lovers amidst a sinking ship. It may as well have been a metaphor for the director James Cameron. In this case, the sinking ship was his marriage with Terminator actress Linda Hamilton. Hamilton found out about Cameron’s affair with Suzy Amis during the making of Titanic and left him soon after. Cameron went on to marry Amis in 2000. On the bright side, unlike many other celebrities on this list, Cameron and Amis remain married to this date.

Eyes Wide Shut – Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman

Stanley Kubrick, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman – what more could you want from a movie? Not splitting up, perhaps. The movie is centered on jealousy between a fictional couple portrayed by Tom and Nicole, and it ended up greatly affecting their relationship. The rigorous perfectionism by Kubrick, the pressure of controversies surrounding the filming of the movie, along with Kubrick’s death, played a crucial role in the couple’s announcement of divorce two years later. Kidman later reported that she was heartbroken by the divorce.

Made in America – Ted Danson & Cassandra Coates

Cassandra Coates was Ted Danson’s second wife, and they were together for 11 years when he met actress Whoopi Goldberg on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1988. But it was only in April 1992 that they became romantically involved, whilst filming Made in America. The affair was the talk of the town in Hollywood and led to the split of Coates and Danson in 1993. This went on to be known as one of Hollywood’s most pricey divorces!

Made in America – Ted Danson & Cassandra Coates

The Last Face – Sean Penn & Charlize Theron

The Last Face was neither popular nor critically acclaimed – with only a 5% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie would be remembered by the cast for other reasons, as it led to the end of Sean Penn and Charlize Theron’s relationship. Engaged in 2014, the couple began filming The Last Face the same year. But their relationship took a rocky turn during the production of the movie, and the couple parted ways a year after shooting ended.

Proof of Life – Meg Ryan & Dennis Quaid

The 2000 kidnapping thriller Proof of Life is still remembered today due to the scandals it revealed between Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe. During the filming of Proof of Life, Crowe and Ryan were caught cuddling with one another. Not only did the affair shatter Ryan’s “girl next door” image, but it also paved the way for her divorce from Dennis Quaid. The couple divorced in 2001, and they retained shared custody of their son, Jack.

Rosemary’s Baby – Mia Farrow & Frank Sinatra

The relationship between Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow was rocky from the start. But the catalyst for their divorce was the filming of Rosemary’s Baby, a horror movie admired even today. The filming of Rosemary’s Baby fell behind schedule, and this annoyed Sinatra immensely as it was getting in the way of their marriage. He pestered Farrow to ditch the project, but Farrow remained dedicated to her role. Sinatra retaliated and she was served with divorce papers on set.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein – Emma Thompson & Kenneth Branagh

Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson were married for five years, during which they created masterpieces like Much Ado About Nothing and Dead Again. But when directing Frankenstein in 1994, Branagh began a tempestuous affair with the eccentric actress Helena Bonham Carter. Emma Thompson divorced Branagh when she found out, but has since then forgiven them and they remain friends to this day. Both Thompson and Branagh have since remarried – Branagh to the art director Lindsay Brunnock, and Thompson to Greg Wise, an English actor.

The Last Picture Show – Peter Bogdanovich & Polly Platt

Polly Platt’s love story with director Peter Bogdanovich began like the perfect rom-com. She met Bogdanovich in Summer Stock Theatre, where she worked as a costume designer. They were happily married for nine years, but things took a turn when Bogdanovich cast 21-year-old Cybill Shepherd in his film, The Last Picture Show. He fell in love with Shepherd, which eventually led to his divorce with Platt. Bogdanovich dated Shepherd for seven years from 1971 to 1978, but they never married.

Planet Terror – Robert Rodriguez & Elizabeth Avellán

Director Robert Rodriguez was happily married to the producer Elizabeth Avellán for 16 years before he met Rose McGowan during the production of Planet Terror. Avellán and Rodriguez split up in 2006, and, soon enough, sparks were flying between him and McGowan. The relationship soon turned toxic, and Rose admitted Robert went so far as to make her take a lie detector test because he believed that Rose was in love with the director Quentin Tarantino. Luckily for McGowan, she and Rodriguez split up in 2009.

Dangerous Liaisons – John Malkovich & Glenne Headly

Dangerous Liaisons went on to win three Oscars, and was nominated for another four, but it ended up costing John Malkovich his marriage with Glenne Headly. Malkovich was a rising star at the time and ended up having an affair with his co-star Michelle Pfieffer. Their short-lived romantic affair began on the set of Dangerous Liaisons, resulting in Malkovich and Headley’s divorce after six years of marriage. But the relationship between Malkovich and Pfeiffer also failed, shortly after. Pfeiffer went on to date and marry her current husband, David E. Kelly, and Malkovich met his long-term girlfriend Nicoletta Peyran.

The Outlaw Josey Wales – Clint Eastwood & Maggie Johnson

Clint Eastwood met his wife Maggie Johnson on a blind date in 1953, which led to the birth of his daughter Laurie a year later. During the filming of The Outlaw Josey Wales, Eastwood began an affair with his co-star Sondra Locke, which led to resentment and bitterness from Johnson. Eastwood was known for his flings beforehand, and this was the last straw that led to his divorce. Eastwood remained with Locke till 1989, but they never married.

Daredevil – Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner & Scott Foley

Ben Affleck can’t just seem to get it together. He broke off J Lo’s marriage when they began dating, but their own wedding was called off due to a movie as well. During the filming of Daredevil (not the Netflix show, the movie) in 2002, he and Jennifer Garner fell in love. Soon after the premiere of the movie, Affleck and Lopez called off their wedding, and Garner divorced Scott Foley, her then-husband.

Green Lantern –Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson

Let’s be real – Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are one of the coolest couples in Hollywood right now. But they became an item at a cost. Although they’ve never confirmed it, it’s pretty clear that they fell for each other during the filming of Green Lantern. The trouble is, Blake Lively was dating Penn Badgley at the time, and Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson. We can’t believe anyone in their right mind would break up with Scarlett, but it seems like it worked out for Ryan.

The Misfits – Marilyn Monroe & Arthur Miller

This one is particularly painful because this divorce was nobody’s fault, or everybody’s fault – depends on how you look at it. The renowned actress Marilyn Monroe and playwright Arthur Miller collaborated on the set of The Misfits, but it was a disaster. Monroe and Miller were both cheating on each other. On set, Monroe’s acting faltered due to alleged substance abuse, and Miller constantly changed his scripts, which annoyed Monroe due to his “blatant sexism”. The couple was stuck in the Nevada desert for months of filming, and they divorced soon after production.

Gone Girl – Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner

Spoiler alert! Emily Ratajkowski plays the role of a homewrecker in Gone Girl – a crucial character that drives much of the story. But Ratajkowski ended up affecting real-life relationships as well. Ben Affleck had personally asked Ratajkowski to star in Gone Girl, and rumors soon went flying that she and Affleck were hooking up. This, along with other factors, led to his then-spouse Jennifer Garner filing for divorce in 2017. Together, Affleck and Garner had three children, of whom they maintain joint custody.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith – Brad Pitt & Jennifer Anniston

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was the movie that led to the birth of “Brangelina”. Both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie agreed that there was undeniable chemistry between the two during the filming of the movie. However, Brad Pitt had been with Friends actress Jennifer Anniston for five years at that time. Anniston cited “irreconcilable differences” when filing for her divorce months before the movie’s premiere, but it’s pretty obvious that Jolie was the instigator.

Days of Thunder – Tom Cruise & Mimi Rogers

Before his illustrious relationships with Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise was married to Mimi Rogers, who introduced him to Scientology in the first place. But when Days of Thunder started filming, he began a whirlwind love affair with his co-star Nicole Kidman. This, along with his past philandering, caused Cruise and Rogers to divorce one month into the production process. Cruise got engaged to Kidman the very same year, but sadly that didn’t work out well either.

To Have and Have Not – Humphrey Bogart & Mayo Methot

Despite their enormous age difference of 25 years, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall are one of the most famous Hollywood couples in history. During the filming of 1944’s To Have and Have Not, cast and crew on set began to notice sparks flying between the two. Bogart saw Bacall as a window to escape his loveless marriage with Mayo Methot, who reportedly abused him at home. Methot and Bogart divorced soon afterwards. Bogart married Bacall and they stayed together until his death in 1957.

By the Sea – Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

A movie brought these two souls together, but a movie also set them apart. After their seven years together, they announced their divorce not long after By the Sea was released. Written and directed by Angelina Jolie, this film is about a couple trying to repair their marriage, and it seems like Pitt and Jolie’s real life was the inspiration behind it. They had communication issues within their marriage, and By the Sea worked as a final opportunity for them to save their relationship. It didn’t work, and Hollywood’s most talked-about couple was forever broken.

Cleopatra – Elizabeth Taylor & Eddie Fisher, Richard Burton & Sybill Williams

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s love story is straight out of a fairy tale. When Cleopatra began filming in 1961, they hated each other. Then came their first on-screen kiss. The director called cut again and again, but they kissed on and on. There was just one problem: both Taylor and Burton were married, to other people. Taylor was with the singer Eddie Fisher, and Burton was married to actress Sybil Williams. They divorced their spouses and got married to each other but sadly the passion didn’t last. They divorced after 10 years, then remarried, and finally divorced again.

The Rum Diary – Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis

For 14 years, Johnny Depp was in a relationship with French singer Vanessa Paradis. It seemed like a match made in heaven, especially after the couple had two children, including young actress Lily-Rose Depp. However, things changed after Depp met Amber Heard on the set of The Rum Diary. What started off as an on-screen romance ended up evolving into something very real and as a result, Depp’s relationship with Paradis was completely compromised. But after tying the knot with Heard, the two experienced a painful marriage and got divorced two years later.
